Waiting on . . .

Word whether I will be working Monday or not. I don't think I have ever seen such abdication of function, role or responsibility before. Oh, wait! Maybe in each of us at some time or another? And the bitter experience of that episode serves most of us to remember who we are called to be, not what our nature wants us to be. Which maybe why this is so maddening and serves only to highlight the moral decay that continues to grip our society and moves to drag us further down. Off the soapbox now.

It is disturbing, watching what happens around us all day, everyday as the individual decides for him or herself ultimately what is right for them regardless of the many factors that demonstrate the contrary. But then we all still carry that snake bite with us, it is just that Christ has worked in some of us and to leser or greater degrees we have overcome this urge, by God's grace, and trusted him when he says "my ways are righteous and the way to life." Will we ever learn?

This, I believe, is why we are still having struggles, why we still suffer. We cannot learn his ways when all is going our way, because that is only what we want always - our way. It is what lead to the Fall in the first place. Look throughout redemptive history and find any instance of someone at the top of his or her "game" and see if all was well with him or her. I think you'd be hard pressed to find one. We are made with desire for more. It is just that the "more" we are to desire is more of God, but many of us quell that need and replace it with other things that become god to us.

So the struggles, sufferings and trials come so that we remember God who made us, God who loved us, God who called us and saved us. This all so we can walk in an imperfect relationship with him here preparing to walk with him perfectly for eternity as we were meant to do. Through these temporary light afflictions God teaches more of his character and traits as we grasp to hold on to him through our misery. And we realize that our suffering here is nothing compared to the riches of his glory that he has prepared for us. It doesn't even approach the suffering he endured to purchase us from sin.

A really good day today. The only thing of note was slightly more than mild fatigue about mid day. Otherwise an all around good day. Thank you to all who are praying faithfully for us and the minimal side effects. Praise God, he hears and is acting on your petitions.
